We started traveling shortly after we got married over twenty years ago. At first, it was just us in our little 1999 Honda CRV and a $14 tent. Then we graduated to a 1986 VW Vanagon, which we personally rebuilt from the ground up, including the engine, transmission and interior. Then we got a 21-foot Toyota Sunrader which we also rebuilt. After a few trips in that rig, we began to consider the idea of living and traveling in an RV full-time.
It took nearly two years to find the motorhome that was perfect for us. We searched all over Texas and even made out-of-state trips to Nevada, Washington and Tennessee viewing and test-driving motorhomes until we found the one that was just right. We found this Fleetwood Jamboree 26J at El Monte RV in McKinney, Texas. We knew it was perfect for us the moment we saw it.
Over the next 14 months we rebuilt and remodeled the Fleetwood until it was just right. Once the remodel was complete, we set about making the leap from regular life to road life. Within a few short weeks we had quit our jobs, sold our house, sold or given away nearly all of our possessions and hit the road. Since then, every mile has been nothing but joy. No, really!
We would love to keep the Fleetwood but a recent change in work status makes it necessary for us to get a slightly bigger motorhome with a bit more work space. So, sadly, we have decided to sell our little home.
People often ask us if it is difficult for two people to live, work and travel in such a relatively small RV. Well, it might be difficult for some. But not us. And if you are reading this, you are probably going to find it easy, too. Living in such an efficient space is very easy for us and we wouldn’t trade RV life for anything in the world.
We sincerely hope you, dear reader, are the right person to take over our little bit of heaven. We put so much money and effort to make this RV our perfect little traveling treehouse. We hope you find the peace and happiness that we’ve found on the road.
